3 Steps to Create a Vision for Your Best Life

What does your best life look like? What are your deepest dreams and desires?

Heart centered women have strong empathy and compassion and tend to focus on the needs of others, which can make it hard to get clear on our own priorities.

Your dreams are important! You are unique. The best life for you also is completely unique. You are the only one who can create a vision for your best life.

Taking some time out from our busy lives to get clear on our dreams helps us create goals that will lead in the direction of our most fulfilling lives. You can use these three steps to get started:

1) Celebrate your successes. Make a long list of all the things you’ve already created in your life – relationships, work, home, projects, art, spirituality, health, finances. Celebrating our successes primes our brains to focus on creating more success and gives clues about what is most important to us.

2) Identify your core values. When we’re designing our best life, we want to keep in mind the values that are most important to us. Here’s a list of common core values from yourdictionary.com. Make a list of all the values you can think of that are important to you. Circle your top five.

  • Commitment

  • Open-mindedness

  • Consistency

  • Honesty

  • Efficiency

  • Innovation

  • Creativity

  • Good humor

  • Compassion

  • Spirit of adventure

  • Motivation

  • Fitness

  • Education

  • Perseverance

  • Service to others

  • Environmentalism

3) Write about your ideal day. Imagine it’s five years from now, and you are living the best life you can possibly imagine. Where are you? What are you doing? Who are you with? Write about every detail you can think of, from when you wake up in the morning until you go to bed at night. Write it in the present tense as if it is happening now. Make sure to include the emotions you are experiencing as you live this wonderful day.

Once you have primed your brain by acknowledging your successes, identified your most important values, and imagined your ideal day, you can start to create goals that lead you in the direction of your ideal day.
