Fill Your Cup

Fill Your Cup

Dear Friends,

‘You can’t fill from an empty cup’ is a common saying, because it’s true!

Wherever you are feeling called to pour your energy - into your family, job/career, volunteering, creative expression, political activism - all of it will go better if you take care of yourself.

Every one of us is unique, so what replenishes each of us also will be completely unique.

What fills your cup?

If you’re a nature-loving introvert, a solo walk in the woods might be super nourishing.

If you’re a music-loving extrovert, maybe it’s a concert with friends.

Take a few minutes to reflect on what energizes and replenishes you.

Which people, places, and activities recharge your battery?

Also, what states/emotions feel most replenishing? Such as love, calm, excitement, connection, peace, anticipation, joy, etc.

Make a list, and do your best to schedule time for the people/activities/places/states that fill your cup.

If you need to, ask for help from your loved ones to carve out self-care time - whatever you can do to recharge your battery will be good for everyone in your community.

And if you can’t find a big chunk of time in your schedule for self-care, do your best to at least take a few minutes here and there throughout your day to take some deep breaths and visualize doing something that replenishes you. The more vividly you can imagine it with all your senses (seeing, hearing, touching, feeling, smelling) the more recharging it will be for your body/mind/spirit.

Sending much love,

Liz
