Moments of Joy
Dear Friends,
Joy is very strengthening for our bodies, minds, and spirits.
When we’re feeling joy, our brains release healing, strengthening hormones that cascade throughout our bodies.
For survival purposes, our brains evolved to have a built-in bias to focus on what is scary, difficult, and challenging - in our personal lives and in the world.
Shifting into the emotion of joy takes effort, but it is so worth it!
Even with all that is happening in our busy lives and in the world, try to create joy a few times every day.
What makes you feel joy? What makes your heart sing?
Playing with your children, grandchildren, a pet?
Listening to a song that lifts you up?
Hugging a loved one?
Feeling the sun on your face?
Listening to rain pattering on your roof?
Laughing with a loved one?
Stopping to look at the signs of spring (or fall) all around you?
Watching funny videos?
Pay attention to what brings you joy and try to do more of that throughout your day, even if it’s just for a minute or two at a time.
Your body, mind, and spirit will thank you.
Sending you much love,
Liz
