Connect to Your Heart
Dear Friends,
One of the most powerful ways to relieve stress is to connect with our hearts.
The heart and brain are continually sending information back and forth.
When the heart is feeling relaxed and safe, it sends that message to the brain, which then creates the chemistry of safety rather than stress.
The chemicals of stress (such as cortisol and adrenaline) are inflammatory and can cause a lot of problems in our minds and bodies.
The chemistry of love and safety is the opposite, sending hormones of relaxation and healing throughout our bodies.
The simplest way to start connecting with your heart is just to pay attention to it.
If you want, you can put your hands over your heart and close your eyes.
Take a few slow breaths, imagining that you’re breathing in and out of your heart.
Feel your mind and body relax.
If you want to explore more, HeartMath is a nonprofit organization that has been doing research for decades on the effects of stress and the power of connecting with our hearts to alleviate stress.
Their Instagram account is a fun, inspiring resource. They also have books and classes.
Sending you much love,
Liz
